Fall Skincare Tips For Glowing Skin

Fall Skincare Tips For Glowing Skin

With the changing season, our outfits and moods shift, we drink more warm beverages (hello Matcha Latte!) and break out the insta-pot, so too should the way we care for our skin. As fall approaches and the temperature drops your skincare routine needs a little switching up, too. What worked well for your skin in the summertime may not work as well in the fall. To help you out, here is a list of fall skincare tips.

The transition from summer to fall means fewer hot days, so you sweat less and have less oily skin that is more dry. As skin becomes dry it will begin looking flaky and the barrier function may not work as well, this can result in a dull complexion.

During this season, look for gentle, non-striping cleansers, hydrating mists, and balancing facial oils. We want to deal with the changes happening in our skin due to the drop in temperature by preventing dry skin while protecting the skin.

Fall Skincare Tips

Product recommendations

  • Use a mild, non-drying facial cleanser. The goal is to fight off bad bacteria and gently cleanse the skin without stripping it of beneficial oils. I recommend Wild Carrot Seed Facial Soap because it rejuvenates the look and feel of skin bringing new life to it.
  • Hydrate skin. Because of fewer hot days, in the fall your skin is sweating less, producing less oils and isn’t sealing in water like it was. Use a hydrating facial toner like these Toning Facial Mists.
    • Lock in moisture. The objective here is to seal in moisture and provide nourishment to keep the skin barrier healthy. If you’re worried about both dry skin and break outs try our Desert Lavender Facial Serum, for more sensitive skin use Mountain Rose Facial Serum.
    • Exfoliate. Remove dead skin cells, and provide a smooth, vibrant glow by using a Clay Mask weekly.

Other things to pay attention to in your home during the fall is

    • Beware of overheating your home. Hot indoor temperatures can dehydrate your skin, leaving it dry and irritated. Try running a humidifier especially if you run a wood stove.
    • Avoid hot showers and baths, if possible. Hot water dissolves the natural protective barrier that keeps skin hydrated. If that isn’t doable for you, then be sure to follow up with a nourishing body oil immediately after bathing to seal in moisture.
